A 51-year-old Carson City man was arrested just after midnight Thursday on multiple charges including suspicion of felony possession of a controlled substance and possession of a dangerous drug without a prescription, a gross misdemeanor.

UPDATE 5:13PM: Slick road conditions and multiple spinouts are being reported by the Nevada Highway Patrol during the Tuesday evening commute. The National Weather Service advises motorists to slow down and take extra caution when driving. The snow is expected to end before the morning commute, but roads may remain slippery. The weather service Winter Weather Advisory was activated late this afternoon due to snow arriving earlier than expected.

Between 2 to 4 inches of snow expected overnight Tuesday into Wednesday around Carson City and Western Nevada has prompted the National Weather Service to issue a Winter Weather Advisory for the region.

The Dayton Food Pantry hit its goal to collect and distribute 300 turkeys during the days leading up to the Thanksgiving holiday.

“I can't thank everyone enough. During November, the community helped the Pantry reach 1,250 people who needed food," said Pantry manager Alie Trier.

Prescribed fire and pile burn operations continued Tuesday morning at the base of C Hill in the area of Kingsview Way and Canterbury Lane, according to the Carson City Fire Department.

UPDATE 9:15PM: Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong said the person who was found injured in a field off Saliman and Pinto streets suffered a gunshot wound that appears self inflicted. There is no immediate outside threat to Carson High School, the sheriff informed Carson City School District officials. The school was never on lockdown.

Carson City Sheriff's Office deputies and the Carson City Fire Department were called called Tuesday morning to a person found severely injured but alive in a field near Carson High School with a gunshot wound to the head.
