Flags in Nevada to remain at half-staff until Dec. 30 in memory of President George H.W. Bush
Nevada Gov. Brian Sandoval has signed Executive Order 2018-30 to have flags in the state flown at half-staff now until sunset on Dec. 30, 2018 as a mark of respect and in remembrance of the life and service of President George H.W. Bush.

WHEREAS, George Herbert Walker Bush was the 41st President of the United States;
WHEREAS, former President Bush began his career as a World War II Navy pilot, and ultimately served as a congressman, United Nations delegate, Republican Party chairman, and director of Central Intelligence, before leading the United States as President at the conclusion of the Cold War;
WHEREAS, former President Bush was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and father to the 43rd President of the United States;
WHEREAS, the death of former President Bush was announced on November 30, 2018;
WHEREAS, the deepest sympathies of all Nevadans are with the Bush family, as we remember former President Bush’s remarkable life and legacy of service to the United States;
WHEREAS, Title 4, Section 7 of the United States Code provides that the flag of the United States shall be flown at half-staff “30 days from the death of the President or a former President”; and
WHEREAS, Article 5, Section 1 of the Nevada Constitution provides: “The supreme executive power of this State, shall be vested in a Chief Magistrate who shall be Governor of the State of Nevada.”
NOW, THEREFORE, by the authority vested in me as Governor by the Constitution and laws of the State of Nevada and the United States, it is hereby ordered as follows:
The flags of the United States and the State of Nevada shall be flown at half-staff at the State Capitol and all State public buildings and grounds until sunset on December 30, 2018, as a mark of respect and in remembrance of the remarkable life and service of former President George H.W. Bush."
