Carson City Memorial Day Service ceremony photos
Paying tribute to those who have died while serving in the U.S. Armed Forces, a Memorial Day ceremony was held at Lone Mountain Cemetery in Carson City on Monday afternoon. The ceremony was hosted by the Memorial Day Flowers Foundation.
Guest speakers were U.S. Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto, Sen. Jacky Rosen and U.S. Congressman Mark Amodei. Following the speakers was a Memorial Day Tribute by the High Desert Post 56 All Veteran Honor Guard, closing remarks and a Benediction. Also presenting was John Hannah, Commanding Officer, Carson City Division of US Naval Sea Cadets.
Earlier Monday, there was a Memorial Day ceremony to pay tribute to Native American members of the U.S. Armed Forces who died while serving. The service was held at the Stewart Indian School Cemetery in Carson City.
On Friday, U.S. flags were placed on veteran graves at the Lone Mountain Cemetery. Among the local groups assisting were the local Elks Lodge, Navy Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps (NJROTC), Boys Scouts and Girl Scouts and Disabled American Veterans.
The Memorial Day Flowers Foundation works with families, organizations, and businesses to make floral tributes to those who bravely served our country. Over Memorial Day weekend, local organizers and volunteers placed roses and other flowers on grave sites at national, veterans, and local cemeteries across the United States.
