Carson City Fire Department called to brush fire in area of Kings Canyon on back side of C-Hill
UPDATE 1:37PM: According to Carson City Fire Department Battalion Chief Jon Pedrini, the fire was knocked down and contained at around 1.5 acres. Firefighters are doing "mop-up" or cleanup of the area. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Carson City Fire Department and sheriff's deputies responded Sunday afternoon to a brush fire in the area of Kings Canyon on the back side of C-Hill.
The fire was called in around 1 p.m. Firefighters headed to the scene report some smoke in the canyon area beyond and behind C-Hill and are making their way to the fire via two different trailhead options.
Fire size was reported to be around an acre with a slow rate of spread, according to a battalion chief on scene. Two brush units are arriving. Winds in the area are light. It is unclear at this time if there are any nearby structures threatened.
