Construction of Curry Street project in downtown Carson City to begin Wednesday
Construction of the Downtown Carson City Curry Streetscape Project will begin Wednesday, May 16. This phase of downtown revitalization focuses on the section of North Curry Street between Musser and Robinson streets, building upon the downtown Carson Street corridor improvements completed in 2016.
Wednesday will bring the closure of Musser Street, between Carson Street and Nevada Street from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. and the closure of Curry Street, between Musser and Telegraph from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
See the video below or go here.
On Thursday, May 17, Curry Street will be closed between Telegraph and Spear, beginning 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
On Friday May 18, Curry Street will be closed between Spear Street and Robinson, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The days of closures subject to change due to weather issues.
Plans include infrastructure improvements such as the replacement of 60-70 year-old water, sewer and storm drain systems in those areas, as well as pavement rehabilitation, widened sidewalks, installation of energy efficient LED street lights, and underground placement of overhead power lines.
The streetscape project will also feature aesthetic improvements to landscaping, street furnishings and other urban streetscape amenities along five east-west streets in that corridor — Robinson, Spear, Telegraph, Proctor and Musser — as well as the alley between Spear and Telegraph.
Completion of the Downtown Curry Streetscape Project is expected in October. Project updates can be followed on the CarsonProud website and on social media, featuring information on business access, parking, road closures, detours and construction zones.
