Carson City arrests: Woman jailed for DUI, child neglect following profanity laced traffic stop
A 51-year-old Dayton woman was arrested Monday for suspicion of gross misdemeanor child neglect, DUI, failure to maintain a lane of traffic and open container, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.
According to the arrest report, an off-duty deputy alerted dispatch to a possible DUI driver at 7:18 p.m. in the area South Carson and East Fifth streets. The off-duty deputy was able to provide a license plate number and description of the vehicle.
A patrol deputy continued on with a search for the vehicle. A motorist pulled up to the officer and honked their horn and flashed their lights. The driver told the officer that a gray vehicle nearly hit him head-on while he was going south on South Stewart Street.
The deputy continued looking for the vehicle and observed it at the intersection of South Carson Street and Eagle Lane. The deputy observed a single occupant driver in the front seat and a juvenile in the rear driver side seat.
The vehicle continuing east on Eagle Station, striking curbs. The deputy activated his lights for a traffic stop, which concluded in a parking lot where the driver struck the curb as she entered.
The woman exited the vehicle and the officer told her to return to her car. The woman began yelling “what did I do, why are you following me?” the arrest report states.
The deputy advised that he had observed her driving pattern with traffic violations and would need to see her license, registration and insurance documents. When the officer asked the woman how old the juvenile was in the car, the woman told the officer, “what are you a pedophile,” the arrest report states.
The woman then screamed “is this because that bitchy dance mom called on me?” The officer told the woman he didn’t understand what she meant. She was asked again for her license, registration and receipt for insurance.
The insurance receipt was dated in 2017. She handed the officer the same receipt again and said “here it is, now f**k off,” the arrest report states.
The deputy could smell an odor of alcohol coming from her person. Due to her demeanor a cover unit was called to the location. While the officer was in his patrol car, he observed the woman get out of the vehicle then lean into the vehicle.
Once the cover unit arrived, the arresting officer went over to the woman, and found a clear plastic bottle of vodka on the ground. The officer asked if she had been drinking prior to driving.
The woman said no. The officer asked the woman if she would perform a series of standardized field sobriety tests. The woman replied “f**k no,” the arrest report states. The woman then said she wasn’t going to do any of the tests.
When asked if she would submit a breath sample, the woman told the officer “f**k you” and then mentioned a dance mom again, the arrest report states. The officer told the woman the traffic stop was about her ability to operate a vehicle. The woman replied “I am fine just follow me home,” the arrest report states. The woman advised she lived in Dayton.
The officer asked her again if she would like to perform field sobriety tests. The woman replied with swear words. The woman was placed under arrest for suspicion of DUI. She advised the deputy to call her husband to pick up the child. She was put into the back of the patrol car and began screaming and kicking, the arrest report states.
At jail she was read a request for voluntary evidence. The woman replied “I plead the 5th,” the arrest report states. A seizure order was requested for blood samples and granted. At around 11:50 p.m. jail staff was able to obtain a preliminary breath sample with a result of .198. Bail: $3,916.
