Carson City deputies arrest man for domestic battery against woman and baby
A 26-year-old Carson City man was arrested in the 1800 block of N. Edmonds Street for domestic battery and child abuse after allegedly stopping his girlfriend from leaving the residence.
According to the report, deputies were dispatched to the residence just before noon in reference to a possible domestic battery. On arrival deputies knocked on the door several times before someone answered.
A young man came to the door and told deputies “I’m out of here, it’s their problem,” and said they were in the bedroom.
Deputies went to the bedroom and knocked. A young woman came to the door and deputies could see her baby was lying on the bed crying.
The man was hiding behind the closet door and the woman told him to come out. When he did, they started arguing and deputies were informed that the man was refusing to let the woman leave and go to her mother’s house.
She said he grabbed her to prevent her from leaving.
During the argument the man picked up the baby and went for the door, and in doing so the baby’s head hit the door.
He was placed in handcuffs and while speaking to deputies, he admitted that he had grabbed the woman but said he didn’t think the baby’s head hit the door.
Deputies noted the baby had a small bump with redness on the left side of its head.
The baby was transported to the hospital to check for injuries.
The man was taken to the jail. While photos were being taken of him, he appeared to have “old scratches” on his back, according to the report.
Bail: $5,637
