Carson City Sheriff: Suspect in child abduction case in custody, located in Mills Park
A suspect involved in a child abduction case was taken into custody early Monday evening near the skateboard area at Mills Park, Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong confirmed.
Earlier, the Carson City Sheriff’s Office Investigations Division had asked for the public's assistance in locating the suspect in a child abduction, which happened at around 10:30 a.m. in the 400 block of Hot Springs Road.
An elementary school aged student, who was waiting for their lunch from the school delivery service, was approached by an unidentified male. The male subject lured the juvenile into the vehicle and drove around with the child and then dropped the child off near the location the child was abducted.
The male was driving a four door black BMW with dark windows, sunroof and large light colored rims. The BMW was discovered at Mils Park after a person notified the sheriff's office that the vehicle fit the description. Detectives located the suspect, who matched the description given, including a dollar sign tattooed on his right cheek.
He was taken into custody at around 5:50 p.m., in connection to the case.
