Lyon County murder suspect attempts to escape, two jail deputies injured
Ryan Coddington, an inmate awaiting trial in the death of Alea Clark, battered two Lyon County deputies during a routine linen exchange late Thursday night in what appears to have been an attempted escape from the Lyon County Jail, according to the sheriff's office.
Coddington is currently housed in the Lyon County detention facility's maximum housing unit. Both deputies and Coddington were taken to the South Lyon Medical Center and were treated for minor injuries.
Additional charges of battery on a peace officer by an inmate and attempted escape by an inmate are being sought through the Lyon County District Attorney's Office.
On Feb. 5, the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office, in conjunction with the Nevada Division of Investigation, arrested Coddington, 36, of Silver Springs and Toni Hardin, 31, of Dayton, on suspicion of open murder in connection with the disappearance of Alea Clark who was reported missing by family members on January 9.
Clark's remains were recovered Feb. 3 from the Lake Lahontan State Park. See original story here.
