While statewide gaming revenue slips, Carson City soars 7.3 percent in March
Casinos in Carson City, Minden, Gardnerville and all other areas of Douglas County with the exception of South Lake Tahoe, took in a gaming “win” of $8,637,614 for the month, as compared to $8,049,618 in March 2014. Statewide, Nevada gaming revenue in March fell 3.15 compared to March 2014.
The bump in casino game playing traffic, whether they be slot machines or card games, may be attributed to improvements in the local economy but most likely it results from the 2015 legislative session convening in Nevada’s capital city.
Meanwhile, casinos in South Lake Tahoe saw their gaming revenue decrease 6.83 percent, while north shore casinos dipped 15.31 percent. Casinos in Reno and Sparks held up, however, with revenue win on the plus side, with Reno casino revenue increasing by 6.8 percent and Sparks, 7.44 percent, according to the gaming control board.
