Carson City arrest log: Two face battery charges following separate incidents at hospital
Two men were arrested Monday in separate incidents at Carson Tahoe Hospital with one facing a gross misdemeanor charge of battery after allegedly elbowing a nurse while he was being treated for an overdose, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.
According to the arrest report, deputies were at the hospital attending to an earlier battery report and heard over police radio that a deputy was in a foot pursuit from the emergency room.
Another deputy caught up with the 18-year-old male suspect running and instructed him to get down on the ground. The man replied “f**k you” and continued running. He was caught and detained and returned to the emergency room where he was begin held for overdosing on medications, according to the arrest report.
Medical staff restrained the man on the bed. Approximately 15 to 20 minutes later a deputy was exiting the emergency room and observed the man attempting to rip out the restraints. The deputy entered the room to assist the nurse in restraining the man.
He elbowed the nurse and pushed passed her, jumped off the bed and attempted to exit the room. He was again detained. The nurse signed a citizens arrest form and witness statement so that charges of battery could be filed on the man. He was arrested at 5 p.m. on gross misdemeanor suspicion of battery on a protected person and obstructing and resisting arrest. Bail: $2,912.
Less than an hour earlier, a 32-year-old Dayton man was arrested at 4:14 p.m. on suspicion of misdemeanor battery. According to the arrest report, deputies were called to Carson Tahoe Hospital for a report of a suicidal person.
A deputy detained the suspect while another deputy spoke with the reporting witnesses who provided statements. They said they arrived at the man’s residence in Dayton to pick him up and take him to detox at the hospital.
While on their way to the hospital the man became irate and slapped and hit the driver of the car, the arrest report states. Once at the hospital the driver and the suspect exited the vehicle. The suspect then allegedly kicked the driver in the left leg and scratched his right arm. The victim was able to restrain the suspect until deputies arrived, the arrest report states.
He and a witness signed statements regarding the incident and filled out a citizens arrest form. Bail: $1,137.
