Carson City Sheriff's arrest log: Jail inmates charged with felony battery
Two Carson City Jail inmates were charged with felony battery of a protected person after a fist fight erupted between the two Friday afternoon at 2 p.m. inside the Carson City Jail, a Carson City Sheriff's deputy said.
Haywood Moye, 47, and Adrian Hernandez, 26, both of Carson City, were charged with the offenses after a yelling match between the two had escalated into a physical altercation in their cell.
According to the report, a Sheriff's deputy approached the pair's cell in response to yelling that had come from inside of it. Neither inmate spoke when asked repeatedly what the yelling had been about.
The deputy said he then observed Hernandez approach Moye and hit him with his fist. The pair subsequently began to grapple with one another, the report said. The deputy called for help and additional deputies responded to break up the fight.
Once separated, the inmates were asked if they needed medical attention and both had declined, the report said.
Reviewed security footage showed Hernandez and Moye had gotten into an earlier physical altercation before the one witnessed by the deputy.
The inmates were placed in separate holding cells to avoid further incidents, the report said. Bail: $20,000.
Hernandez had been arrested earlier in the day at 10:07 a.m. in the area of Woodside and Sharon drives for a felony possession of controlled substance (PCS) offense, a deputy's arrest report said.
According to the report, Hernandez was located and stopped by law enforcement in reference to a suspicious person complaint.
Hernandez consented to a person search for weapons by the deputy, who discovered a marijuana pipe and a small baggie containing a white substance in the suspect's pocket.
The substance was suspected to be methamphetamine, and tested presumptive positive by field test.
Hernandez was originally booked on $2,500 for the felony PCS offense.
