Carson City weather: Isolated showers Thursday morning, sunny and warm this weekend
Another weak spring storm will affect the region through Thursday morning with periods of higher elevation snow and valley rain showers possible, according to the National Weather Service.
Light precipitation will accompany this shortwave trough into the Tahoe Basin beginning around the 10 p.m. to midnight range and last into early Thursday morning. This is a a colder system than the previous two with snow levels dipping down to about 5,500 feet, according to the weather service. The system won't bring much snow, less than an inch possible at lake level, and a few inches in the higher elevations around the Sierra crest.
Isolated showers, around a 40 percent chance, are possible Carson City, Carson Valley and Dayton areas. Day time highs will be in the upper 50s Thursday.
After the system moves out, a drier trend with a significant warm up is expected heading into the weekend with temperatures expected to be 10-15 degrees warmer than normal. Temperatures around Carson City and western Nevada will be in the 70s by Saturday, according to the weather service.
