Carson City arrests: Man jailed for burglary, second offense domestic battery

A 47-year-old Carson City man was arrested Saturday for suspicion of felony burglary, domestic battery with a prior, probation violation and violation of bail conditions, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

Haywood Lawrence Moye, was arrested at 4:59 p.m. in the area of Gibson Avenue. According to the arrest report, the suspect walked into a residence where he was not allowed to be in as part of conditions through Alternative Sentencing for domestic battery.

Moye allegedly walked into the residence of a Travis street home, said he wanted to speak with a man who lived in the residence, and then punched the man in the face 3 or 4 times, the arrest report states. The investigating deputy observed the male victim had a red superficial cut to the right side of his cheek.

The suspect then went upstairs to look for the female victim, whom he had dated previously but was not allowed to have contact with after a domestic battery incident. He allegedly struck the woman on the right side of her face and ear, the arrest report states.

The investigating deputy took photos of the woman’s face and ear, which was extremely red. She denied wanting medical attention. Deputies located and arrested the suspect. Bail: $31,000.

In other arrests:
— A 32-year-old Gardnerville woman, Tarrah Nicole Kizer, was arrested Saturday, 4:42 p.m. in the 900 block of South Carson Street for felony suspicion of possession of a controlled substance and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to the arrest report, a deputy attempted to make a traffic stop for vehicle violations. The driver began to evade the officer at a high rate of speed. The driver drove into a parking lot and fled inside a casino. The female passenger was still in the vehicle and provided the officer documents. The vehicle was not registered and the plates were surrendered, the arrest report states.

A records check was done on the man who fled the scene, where it was learned through dispatch that his license was revoked and that he was a convicted felon. Because the vehicle was abandoned and unregistered, the deputy began to impound it.

A drug detection canine did an exterior sniff of the vehicle and alerted positive. During a search a deputy located a digital scale with suspected methamphetamine residue and a baggie of methamphetamine under the passenger seat where the woman was sitting.

She denied using drugs, and said she did not know the baggie of meth and the scale was in the vehicle. She told the deputy she was pregnant. Officers did not find the man who fled the scene but it was believed he was armed with a gun. The man was seen entering the casino after the traffic stop and then leaving out of a southeast door.

The woman faces the felony charge of possession of a controlled substance and misdemeanor drug paraphernalia. Bail: $3,637.

— A 34-year-old Carson City man was arrested early Monday, 3:44 a.m. in the 2000 block of Concord Drive for misdemeanor suspicion of DUI.

According to the arrest report, a deputy was dispatched to the area to meet with the man regarding a keep the peace stand by. The officer arrived and located the man inside his vehicle with the car running and the man located in the driver’s seat.

The officer could smell a moderate odor of alcohol on the man’s breath and he showed signs of possible intoxication. The man stated he had driven from his home to the location to obtain tools that he had left, the arrest report states.

The deputy asked the man if he would participate in field sobriety tests. The man agreed and showed signs of impairment on all tests, the arrest report states. He provided a preliminary breath test of .166 and was arrested for suspicion of DUI. Bail: $1,137.

— A 22-year-old Carson City man was arrested Sunday, 11:48 a.m. in the 1600 block of Airport Road for misdemeanor suspicion of imitation of a controlled substance, open container, driving without a valid license and basic speeding. Bail: $2,976.

— A 19-year-old Carson City man was arrested Sunday, 12:08 a.m. for misdemeanor suspicion of DUI drugs, possession of marijuana (under the age of 21), possession of drug paraphernalia, and disobedience of a traffic control device. Bail: $3,098.

UPDATE THURSDAY: The Washoe County Regional Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the two people who died Wednesday morning following the two vehicle crash on I-580 in Carson City. They are Alejandra Hernandez Valtierra, 36, and Viola Santoyo Huizar, 48, both of Carson City.

UPDATE 12:42PM: Southbound I-580 in Carson City was opened as of around 11 a.m., said a Nevada State Police spokeswoman, who provided more details of the fatal crash that happened early Wednesday morning.

Both the driver of a car and a truck involved in the crash died. Their names have not been released pending notification of family members. The car, which was going the wrong way — northbound in the southbound lane — struck the truck and caught on fire, according to a NSP preliminary investigation thus far. The vehicle makes are unknown at this time.

Dayton Elementary School in Lyon County was honored Wednesday along 13 other schools including Carson High in Carson City as a Nevada Purple Star School.
