Wind Advisory through Tuesday morning for Carson City, Lake Tahoe areas
A cold front will move through the Sierra and western Nevada late tonight through Tuesday morning bringing strong winds and much colder temperatures, according to the National Weather Service in Reno. A Wind Advisory is in effect through 11 a.m. Tuesday morning for Carson City, Carson Valley, Dayton and Virginia City areas in western Nevada as well as South Lake Tahoe, Incline Village and Truckee in the Sierra.
Southwest winds 25 to 40 mph with gusts up to 60 mph possible. Wind gusts in foothill locations may reach up to 70 mph. Strong winds will result in blowing dust, dangerous crosswinds for high profile vehicles, and air turbulence. Hazardous conditions are anticipated for Lake Tahoe and Pyramid Lake from this evening through Tuesday.
High fire danger will exist in Mono and Eastern Alpine counties due to the strong gusty winds and low humidity tonight through 11 a.m. Tuesday.
