'Grow Your Own, Nevada!' series continues online tonight with Growing Berries 101
The University of Nevada, Reno Extension Office is hosting a Grow Your Own, Nevada! workshop series covering the basics of gardening in the Silver State with a variety of topics.
The eight “Grow Your Own, Nevada!” classes being offered in spring statewide will help Nevadans who want to get on a path to more sustainable, local, healthy living by growing and preserving more of their own food.
The classes are held Tuesdays and Thursdays via zoom from 6 to 8 p.m.
The workshops will provide gardeners and those interested in growing healthy foods with a “back-to-the-basics” guide to great harvests in Nevada.
Earlier this week the topic covered Starting Plants from Seed.
Tonight, the topic is Growing Berries 101.
Due to the hardships of COVID-19, the series is free to all.
“In light of developments regarding COVID-19, the Grow Your Own, Nevada! spring class series will continue to be offered for free in an online format in lieu of in-person classes,” a series spokesperson stated on the site.
Other topics include Gardening in Northern Nevada Soils, Hot Composting, Cover Crops, Saving Seeds, and more.
