Carson City sheriff’s log: Two female jail inmates face battery charges after inmate attacked

Two Carson City jail inmates each booked on felony charges of battery by a prison after a fight early Thursday morning in which a third inmate was attacked, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

Kayla Robbins and Pazley Lampkin, both 23, were charged as a result of the incident that happened at around 5 a.m. According to the arrest report, a deputy entered the female area of the jail and found Robbins, Lampkin and another inmate, the victim, on the ground.

A review of video showed Robbins and Lampkin attacking the victim, punching, kicking and pulling her hair. The victim was treated for injuries. Bail: $20,000 each.

— A 40-year-old Carson City man, Michael Bruce Roberts, was booked into jail Friday, 4:29 a.m. on a felony Priority 5 hold, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

According to the arrest report, deputies responded to the 200 block of South Richmond regarding a prowler. On arrival a resident advised that Roberts, whom the reporting witness knew, had crawled into a bedroom window. The officer made contact with the man as he exited the front door. Dispatch advised he had a confirmed Priority 5 hold from State Probation. He was taken into custody and is being held without bail in lieu of a hearing.

— A 59-year-old Carson City woman, Cindy L. Katzenberger, was booked into jail Thursday, 1:04 p.m. after turning herself in on felony warrant allegedly theft, that was issued April 5 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $15,000.

— A 36-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Thursday, 2:48 p.m. in the area of Minnesota and West 6th Street on misdemeanor suspicion of DUI and failure to maintain a lane of traffic.

According to the arrest report, deputies responded to the area regarding a rollover crash. A deputy met with the woman and could smell an odor of alcohol on her breath and noticed her pupils were constricted. She admitted to recently taking prescription medications but denied drinking alcohol, the arrest report states.

She was asked to participate in a series of field sobriety tests. She showed signs of impairment on two of the four tests. She was taking into custody on suspicion of DUI and submitted to a voluntary draw of her blood that was booked into evidence. The crash was caused by failure to maintain a lane, according to the arrest report. Bail: $1,224.

— A 19-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Thursday, 8:01 p.m. in the 400 block of North Richmond Avenue on suspicion of domestic battery. Bail: $3,137.

— A 46-year-old Carson City man was arrested Thursday, 6 p.m. in the 3300 block of South Carson Street on a gross misdemeanor charge of threatening a peace officer and misdemeanor charges of obstructing and being an intoxicated pedestrian.

According to the arrest report, two deputies were with a reporting witness of a reckless driver incident in the parking lot of 3300 South Carson Street.

As one of the deputies returned to his vehicle the 46-year-old suspect crossed Curry Street and approached the officer, holding a cell phone in his hand. The officer began to walk passed the man to the reporting witness and did not realize he was being recorded, the arrest report states.

The man said in an accusatory tone: “Excuse me” and “What’s going on here?” The deputy turned to face the man and observed he was pointing the cell phone at him.

The officer told the suspect that he and the other officer were dealing with another call and he needed to keep his distance so as to not interfere, the arrest report states.

The man demanded the officer’s name and his badge number and came within inches of the deputy’s personal space. As the demands continued, the deputy was taken away from the investigation. He handcuffed the man and removed a knife from his right pants pocket and put him in the back seat of the patrol vehicle, the arrest report states.

The man smelled strongly of an alcoholic beverage. As he was being taken to jail the man asked the deputy what he was being charged with. The officer replied he was being charged with obstructing and being a drunken pedestrian. The man told the officer to remember he had two pictures of him. The officer asked the man to elaborate on where he was going with that.

The man replied: “You know what it means.” At that point it seemed to the officer that the man was attempting to sway his decision on what to charge him with so the officer informed him he would be additionally charged with intimidating a police officer.

At jail the man submitted to a preliminary breath test of .26. While in pre-booking he made mention that he recorded the officers, saying they were harassing the reporting witness. The suspect then looked confused when the arresting deputy told him the reporting witness had called officers for help which was why the deputies were speaking with her in the first place. Bail: $2,984.

— A 23-year-old Carson City man was booked into jail on Thursday, 1:30 a.m. for misdemeanor warrant charges of violation of a suspended sentence and contempt of court. Bail: $3,500.
