Carson residents can now find out what's happening next door, or across town
Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong says his department has launched a new website that all Carson City internet users can use to track crime trends throughout Carson City. Just go to CCSheriff.com and scroll down to: CrimeMapping for your neighborhood: Click here .
Sheriff Furlong says the new crime reporting service enables anyone in Carson City to learn of criminal activity occurring anywhere in the community. He says it's especially helpful for Carson City Neighborhood Watch groups that want to stay up to date on what's going on in their area. The CrimeMapping service is free and is updated 24/7.
On the same webpage residents can also see a compilation of criminal occurrences that have accrued over a period of months. Scroll down to: Current Crime Trends: Click here.
Sheriff Furlong says during tough economic times, it is the goal of the Sheriff's Office to offer information and prevention programs to stretch available budget dollars even further. "Crime prevention is everyone's responsibility and reduces the cost of law enforcement for the taxpayers of Carson City," he said.
