Carson Valley motorcycle chase ends with crash, man facing several charges
A South Lake Tahoe man riding a motorcycle thought he could outrun the law Monday afternoon. But he wound up crashing the bike and faces several charges instead.
Arrested for eluding and speeding, among the charges, was Peter Hall, 50. He crashed the motorcycle on Dressler Road in Carson Valley and was treated for minor injuries, said Douglas County Sheriff's Office Sgt. Pat Brooks.
Deputies had attempted to stop the speeding motorcycle traveling southbound on Highway 88. Hall then sped away from deputies and turned west onto Centerville Lane. A second unit was waiting at the intersection of Centerville and Foothill Road, said Brooks.
The deputies waiting at that location attempted to direct the motorcyclist to the shoulder of the road however, the motorcyclist sped away southbound on Foothill Road. A third deputy waited at Highway 88 and Foothill Road. The motorcyclist failed to yield at the stop sign and drove straight through the intersection onto Dressler Road, said Brooks.
While travelling at a high rate of speed on Dressler Road, the motorcyclist failed to negotiate a dip in the road and crashed. Hall was taken to Carson Valley Medical Center where he was treated for minor injuries.
Hall was subsequently arrested on the following charges: eluding a peace officer, speeding (31-40 mph over), fictitious license plates, driving while suspended (due to DUI), failure to signal, failure to yield at stop sign, no insurance, reckless driving and no class "M" endorsement on driver's license. Hall was released on a $4,339 bail amount, said Brooks.
