Carson City sheriff’s log: California woman jailed on drug trafficking, conspiracy charges

A San Fernando, Calif., woman was booked Tuesday into Carson City Jail on felony warrant charges of drug trafficking and conspiracy to violate the Controlled Substance Act, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

Maria Isabel Segura is being held on $250,000 bail and a bail hold through Immigration and Customs Enforcement, according to a jail deputy. A condition was that she must have a GPS monitor prior to release, according to the warrant, issued March 7 out of Carson City Justice Court. She is accused of trafficking a schedule 1 controlled substance of 28 grams or more, a category A felony and conspiracy to violate the Controlled Substance Act, a category C Felony, according to the warrant.

In other arrests:
— A 36-year-old Carson City man was booked into jail Wednesday, 12:01 a.m. on a misdemeanor warrant, violation of a suspended sentence, issued Oct. 6, 2015 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $3,000.

— A 26-year-old transient was booked Wednesday , 12:01 a.m. into Carson City jail on a misdemeanor failure to appear traffic warrant issued Feb. 16, 2016 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $855.

— A 42-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Tuesday, 11:40 p.m. in the 1100 block of South Curry Street on suspicion of misdemeanor DUI. According to the arrest report, officers were called to the area after a report of a non-injury accident involving a minivan and a vehicle parked legally on the shoulder.
A deputy met with the woman who said she had a “few drinks.” She was asked to perform field sobriety tests. She declined at first, saying she was “too drunk” and then agreed. She showed six signs of impairment and was taken into custody, according to the arrest report. At jail she blew breath tests of .191 and .180. Bail: $1,137.

— A 25-year-old Carson City man was arrested Tuesday, 5:15 p.m. in the area of Harbin and Telegraph streets on gross misdemeanor suspicion of carrying a concealed weapon and misdemeanor suspicion of domestic battery. According to the arrest report, the reporting witness told dispatch he was watching a male and female walking down the road and observed the male push the female several times.

When the officer arrived in the area, the suspect raised his hands directly in the air. As the officer was making contact, the female advised the man had a firearm. The deputy located a Smith and Wesson Shield 9, semi-automatic pistol on his hip in a holster. The weapon was not visible and was concealed by his clothing, the arrest report states. The man said he was pushing and shoving the woman in an attempt to get away from her. Bail: $5,637.

— A 21-year-old Anderson, Calif., man was booked Tuesday, 5:15 p.m. into Carson City jail on a misdemeanor charge of contempt of court issued Feb. 26, 2016 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $1,000.

— A 30-year-old transient, was arrested Tuesday, 4:08 p.m. in the 2000 block of North Carson Street on a misdemeanor charge of leaving a restaurant without paying. According to the arrest report, a deputy was called to the Denny’s on North Carson Street. The reporting witness from the restaurant said the man ordered, ate a meal and left without paying and that he walked into the Cal Ranch store. The man was located as he was leaving a restroom and arrested. Bail: $302.

— A 53-year-old Carson City man was arrested Tuesday, 2:33 p.m. in the 500 block of North Stewart Street on suspicion of violating a temporary restraining order. Bail: $1,137.

— A 24-year-old Carson City mans as arrested Tuesday, 1:15 p.m. in the 4900 block of Highway 50 East on misdemeanor charges of failure to appear in Lyon County traffic court. Bail: $485.

Carson City Fire Department and sheriff's deputies were called Thursday night to a small brush fire behind Meeks Lumber in north Carson City.

UPDATE: Carson City Sheriff's Office is investigating a credit card skimmer device discovered Thursday at an East Carson City business.

The Carson City Sheriff’s Office will host its annual Sheriff’s Night Out at Mills Park from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, August 6. There will be aircrafts, helicopters, law enforcement vehicles, mounted horses, fire engines, giveaways, music, games and more.

UPDATE 9:38PM: The fire on East Long Street was on the back patio of a two-story four-plex, according to Carson City Fire Department Battalion Chief Jon Pedrini. Damage was contained to the exterior patio and siding. There were no injuries. Three occupants were displaced.

When firefighters arrived, a neighbor and Carson City Sheriff's deputies had used garden hoses and fire extinguishers to knock much of it out, said Pedrini. The cause is under investigation.

MINDEN, Nev. — Austin's House, a nonprofit that provides emergency shelter for children in the northern Nevada region and beyond, is in the final weeks of ticket sales for its annual fundraising gala. The Tahoe Regional Planning Agency and Mountain Area Preservation reached a settlement agreement this week over a lawsuit brought by MAP against affordable housing policies approved by the TRPA Governing Board in December 2023. The litigation sought to block new land use policies in the highly protected Lake Tahoe Region that combined incentives for water quality, transportation, and workforce housing improvements, according to TRPA.
