Heavenly ski resort at Tahoe shifts to spring operations, Sierra launches lift ticket deal
Beginning on Monday, March 30, Heavenly Mountain Resort at south shore Lake Tahoe will offer mountain access via the Heavenly Gondola in the Heavenly Village for the remainder of the season and Stagecoach Express through Sunday, April 5.
All mountain operations on the California side will close March 30, a week ahead of schedule. The resort will operate 11 lifts, accessing 27 trails. Mountain Operations staff continue to closely monitor and assess conditions daily. At this time the resort is still planning on closing on April 19.
“While there was still some good skiing and riding at the upper portion of the California side, the lower portion was beginning to deteriorate to a point that, despite the best efforts of our snowmaking, grooming and entire mountain operations teams, was not up to our standards,” said Pete Sonntag, vice president and COO of Heavenly. “The Nevada side is still offering some of the most and best skiing and riding in the region, which is powerful evidence of our snowmaking efforts throughout the season, as well as the advantages provided by Heavenly’s expansive high elevation terrain. At this time, we still anticipate a closing date of April 19 and are looking forward to some great conditions for the Easter holiday weekend.”'
Heavenly Daycare will continue to operate out of the California Main Lodge, and all adult and children’s Ski and Ride School classes are offered out of the Gondola. Free parking will be available at the California Lodge along with free shuttle service between California Lodge and the Heavenly Gondola, departing every 20 minutes.
Meanwhile, at Sierra Resort, which was forced to suspend operations March 15 due to the lack of snow, announced that it is keeping its ticket pass prices consistent with last ski season's best value deal with its Keepin' it Real unlimited season pass at $289 if bought before May 7.
“We are thrilled to provide great Tahoe value for skiers and riders who want to experience an authentic mountain which has served as a training ground for world-class athletes and fosters a revered employee culture that translates into an exceptional guest experience,” says Sierra-at-Tahoe General Manager, John Rice. “We invite all to join our Sierra Family and enjoy our laid back vibe that embodies the California skiing and riding experience.”
The deal allows for unlimited access to the slopes seven days a week, all season, along with additional benefits including:
