New features for Carson Now
Today we have started rolling out some changes for the Carson Now website.
First, you might notice a new bar at the top of the page when you start to scroll down. This makes it easy to search the web for items of interest without having to leave the site, as well as adding tools to share pages via email, Facebook and Twitter.
Next, try highlighting any text on the page, and you will see a little widget pop up that does a search for that term.
Click on any story, and at the bottom you will see a new box for Facebook comments. This makes it easier for people to leave comments and share them with their Facebook friends.
A side benefit of this system is that (for the most part) it attaches real names to comments. This is something many of our readers have asked for from the beginning. A lot of sites out there have comment sections that devolve into free-for-all slugfests of personal attacks launched by anonymous users.
We have watched as major sites like Techcrunch have implemented this feature, the result being less spam, fewer trolls and more constructive conversations.
Users will still be able register and post stories without logging in via Facebook.
Try out these new features, and let us know if you see any problems.
Over the next week, you will see even more changes rolling out. Stay tuned.
