Carson City announces dates for Spring Pride Clean-Up program
When it comes to spring cleaning, out with the old and pare down the new seems to be the order of the times. With that in mind, Carson City has announced its annual Spring Clean-Up Pride Program on its Web site.

The following is what the city has in store for this year's program:
SENIOR JUNK HAUL
Again this year, 1-800-GOT-JUNK?, the world's largest junk removal service will offer up to three bookings of junk removal per day, to elderly or disabled Carson City residents at no cost during Carson Pride Week, April 12 – 16, 2010. Limited availability and restrictions apply. Call (775) 887-8898 for an appointment.
CARSON CITY LANDFILL
Free for Carson City residents only on April 16, 17, 23 and 24. During these dates there will be no commercial loads permitted. Also, the landfill accepts recycled items for drop off including car batteries, waste oil and antifreeze up to five gallons. Vehicle tires will be limited to four tires per vehicle during this free disposal period. For additional information, call (775) 882-6066 or (775) 887-2355.
CARSON CITY STREET OPERATIONS PICK-UP
Carson City Street Operations will pick up any bundled yard waste in the Carson City urban area put at curbside from for free Monday, April 12 through Thursday, April 15, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. To have this done residents must call (775) 887-2355 for pick up. Residents are urged to call during the week of April 5 - April 9, between 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., to be placed on the list of pickups. The service is for garden debris only, no furniture, appliances or lumber. No ash or burned materials. Tree limbs must be in bundles and no longer than 6 feet and no larger than 4 inches in diameter. Bags and bundles cannot exceed 60 pounds each or they will not be picked up.
WRECK RIDDANCE
If you have a junked vehicle sitting on your property that you want to get rid of, it can be done at no charge. Pick-N-Pull will tow away any old vehicles to the salvage yard for free as long as the VIN number is visible, and the property owner signs a release or a title. Call Pick-N-Pull at (775) 882-7772.
RECYCLING
Take your cans, glass, newspapers, cardboard and plastic for recycling to the Carson City Landfill Recycling Center. Take any reusable items to Carson City Senior Citizen Thrift Store, F.I.S.H., OARC, Classy Seconds or the Salvation Army. Remember, Reuse - Recycle.
HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE
Residents who have pesticides, herbicides, paints, old gasoline that they need to dispose of, they can do it by making an appointment. Disposal appointments are required and can be made by calling (775) 887-2355. This program is provided at no cost to Carson City residents.
OPEN BURN
The Carson City Fire Department will allow an open burning period from March 20 through April 17. For Carson City residents, people wishing to burn must obtain a burn permit from one of the fire stations or online at www.carson-city.nv.us/Index.aspx?page=268. Permission to burn is revocable at any time due to weather conditions or fire restrictions. For more information, call (775) 887-2220.
