Comedian Sarah Sliverman at Tahoe's MontBleu Resort April 9
“I don't set out to offend or shock, but I also don't do anything to avoid it,” a mantra by and for comedian Sarah Silverman who will be performing at MontBleu Resort Casino & Spa at Lake Tahoe on Saturday, April 9. The actor/comedian is taking a mid season break from her Comedy Central TV show to get back to her stand-up comedy roots.
In 2010, Silverman published The Bedwetter: Stories of Courage, Redemption, and Pee. The collection of essays was released in April 2010 and made The New York Times Best-Seller List after one month of sales.
Silverman’s career has run the gamut of the entertainment industry: live stand-up performances (where any and all subject matter is fair game), TV and movie roles and awards show host. She is known for her TV work on “Saturday Night Live,” “Seinfeld” and “Crank Yankers,” as well as appearances in the films “School of Rock,” “There's Something About Mary,” “The Aristocrats” and her own feature, “Jesus is Magic.” Currently, she stars in “The Sarah Silverman Show” where she plays a fictional version of herself.
She hosted the 2007 MTV Movie Awards and commented on the upcoming jail sentence of Paris Hilton, “I heard that to make her feel more comfortable in prison, the guards are going to paint the bars to look like [male genitalia]. I think it is wrong, too. I just worry she is going to break her teeth on those things.”
Silverman appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! and released a music video she made for her then beau, Jimmy Kimmel in early 2008. The song was called “I'm ****ing Matt Damon,” in which she and Matt Damon sang a duet about having an affair behind Kimmel's back. The video created an instant sensation with over 8 million views on YouTube.com and ABC.com. Kimmel responded with his own video a month later with Damon's friend Ben Affleck entitled “I'm ****ing Ben Affleck.”
At the 2008 Creative Arts Emmy Awards, Silverman won two Emmys for original music and lyrics and picture-editing for the song “I'm ****ing Matt Damon.” In 2009, she received an Emmy nomination for her Comedy Central program, “The Sarah Silverman Show.”
Silverman tickets start at $39.50 plus taxes and fees. The show is intended for mature audiences. Doors open at 8 p.m. and show starts at 9 p.m.
To keep the fun rolling, MontBleu is featuring an entertainment schedule of musicians including Matt Darey, March 26 and Yonder Mountain String Band, April 20. Comedic icon Rob Schneider is bringing his unique personality to MontBleu’s theater March 26.
