Carson City deputies make weekend arrests for suspected felony DUI, drugs and child abuse
A 25-year-old man was arrested Saturday for suspicion of felony third DUI, according to a Carson City Sheriff's Office booking report.
Jose Gerardo Plascenia-Flores was taken into custody at 4:43 a.m. following a traffic stop. He was also booked for misdemeanor tail lamp violation. According to the arrest report, a deputy observed a vehicle in front of him with the left tail light not illuminated.
The officer initiated a traffic stop and spoke with the driver, observing a faint odor of alcohol coming from inside the vehicle, the report states.
The officer asked the man to step out of the vehicle. While speaking the officer could smell a moderate odor of alcohol coming from the man's breath. The man admitted to drinking alcohol before getting into the vehicle and agreed to standardized field sobriety tests, where he performed unsatisfactory on all tests, the report states.
The man provided a preliminary breath test of .163 and was arrested for suspicion of DUI. Deputies located a small unopened bottle of Fireball whiskey in the man's front pocket.
At jail he agreed to voluntarily submit to evidentiary breath tests, providing results of .134 and .128 BAC. Bail: $20,000.
In other arrests:
— A 30-year-old California man was booked March 11 for felony suspicion of commercial burglary and falsifying a prescription for a controlled substance/narcotic.
Zachary Robert Wilmont was taken into custody at 2:53 p.m. at a grocery store in the 3700 block of South Carson Street. Bail: $20,000.
— A 62-year-old Carson City man was arrested March 11 for suspicion of felony child abuse involving his son, a student at a middle school in which a school official advised of suspected child abuse.
The suspect, whose name is omitted as it would identify the victim who is a juvenile, was taken into custody following an interview with a CCSO school resource officer.
According to the booking report, a School Resource Officer was notified of a suspected child abuse incident involving a student. The SRO spoke with the student, who reported his father struck him 3 to 4 times on the left side of his face the day prior after he arrived home from school.
The victim said his father used his right fist to strike him. He said his father was upset with the friends he was hanging around with. He said after being hit, his father tripped him to the ground causing him to fall on his stomach. He said his father then took an extension cord and struck him on the buttock region. He said he got up and went into his bedroom. He said while in his bedroom, his father requested his older brother to come in and told the officer that after his brother entered the room, the father berated both for approximately 1 hour, the report states.
The SRO asked the victim if he thought his father was attempting to disciple or hurt him. The youth replied he was trying to hurt him. While speaking, the officer observed the left side of his face to be red and swollen and he had a small scratch on the left side of his nose, redness underneath the left side of his neck and a bruise on his right leg.
The SRO met with the father and read him his Miranda warning, in which he voluntarily agreed to speak. He provided his account of the incident, which was consistent with his son and was cooperative during the contact, the report states. He said he had no intention of wanting to harm him and was only trying to provide strict discipline.
Due to the sustained injuries, the father was taken into custody for suspicion of child abuse. Bail: $20,000.
— Three from Dayton were arrested Friday, March 11 for suspicion of possession of methamphetamine and other offenses.
Sandra Lee Alberson, 70, Teresa Kathleen Orlando, 41 and George Steven Hudson, 42, were arrested at 4:45 p.m. in the area of South Curry and West Fifth Street. Each were booked for suspicion of possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia. Hudson was also booked for suspicion of being an ex-felon failing to register and Orlando for violation of a suspended sentence. Bail for Alberson, $3,637; for Hudson, $3,879 and Orlando, $6,637.
— A 31-year-old Carson City man was arrested March 12 for suspicion of two counts domestic battery, gross misdemeanor destruction of property, and driving with a suspended or revoked license.
During the investigation, deputies learned the victim was battered on two separate occasions, with bruising under both eyes, swollen lips and cheeks. She also repeatedly grabbed her stomach during the interview with deputies and was in visible pain. Also observed was dried blood in her right ear.
Damage was also done to the North Carson Street motel where the couple was staying. Motel management alerted deputies they wanted to press charges for the damage, in which a bathroom door was ripped off its hinge and a cabinet was damaged, estimating the total to be around $500. Total bail amount listed: $9,274.
— A 37-year-old Carson City man was arrested for two misdemeanor contempt of court warrants, issued Dec. 19 and Dec. 29, 2021 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $6,000 cash.
— A 34-year-old Carson City man was arrested March 11 in the area of South Curry and C Hill for suspicion of DUI second offense, using a cellphone while driving and driving left of center.
According to the booking report, deputies were sent to an accident between two vehicles in which one rolled over. Officers arrived and confirmed no one needed inmate medical attention.
A deputy spoke with parties involved including the suspect driver who advised he was texting his girlfriend and sideswiped the other vehicle, the report states.
The deputy observed the man to have red, watery eyes and had a smell of alcohol coming from his person. The deputy conducted standardized field sobriety tests and observed clues of impairment. The man provided a preliminary breath test with a result of .328. He was arrested and taken to the hospital for medical clearance. He agreed to a voluntary blood draw for evidence. A criminal history check showed a prior conviction for DUI in 2016. Total bail amount listed: $2,836.
— A 47-year-old woman was arrested March 12 for three contempt of court warrants and for suspicion of DUI, failure to maintain a lane and driving without a valid license, all misdemeanor offenses. A man who was with her, Earl Derice Jonte, was also arrested for suspicion of felony sex offender failing to register.
According to the arrest report, a deputy observed the vehicle cross over two yellow lines into oncoming traffic. The deputy inited a traffic stop at Musser and Stewart and made contact with the driver, the 47-year-old woman and passenger Jonte.
The woman advised she did not have a valid driver's license and only had an identification card. During a check through dispatch the deputy was advised the woman had three warrants for her arrest and that the man was a sex offender who had not completed registration compliance. Both were arrested. During a field sobriety test, the woman showed signs of impairment. She provided a breath test of .126. Later she provided evidentiary blood draws. Total bail amount listed for the 47-year-old woman: $10,369. Bail for Jonte: $5,000.
