Carson City deputies arrest two for alleged intent to sell, transport 7 pounds of marijuana
Two California men were arrested early Monday for multiple drug related offenses including possession with intent to sell and transport.
Arrested were James Kenneth Stallings, 50, and Ralph Gordon Darting, 37, both of Lakeport, Calif. The men were each booked for suspicion of felony possession with intent to sell and intent to transport, conspiracy to violate the Controlled Substance Act and two counts each of possession of a controlled substance.
Stallings was also booked for misdemeanor driving an unregistered vehicle, no valid driver's license and no proof of insurance.
According to the booking report, at around 1:45 a.m. a deputy observed a truck traveling on South Carson Street that didn't have a license plate fixed to the rear. The officer initiated a traffic stop.
The deputy observed the truck had a camper shell attached. The windows of the camper shell were open, where the deputy observed multiple mason style jars containing marijuana in plastic bags, the report states.
The driver, Stallings, and passenger, Darting, identified themselves the deputies with state identification cards. Stalling indicated the truck belonged to him but that he was not able to produce a current registration or insurance information.
Stallings admitted to having approximately one pound of marijuana in the cab the truck, according to the report. He stated the marijuana in the bed of the truck belonged to Darting and admitted they were bringing the marijuana to sell to dispensaries in Nevada. Stallings indicated the marijuana came from Lakeport, Calif.
The deputy made contact with Darting, who stated the marijuana in the cab of the truck belonged to Stallings and the marijuana in the bed of the truck bellowed to him. Darting admitted there was over a pound of marijuana in the truck. Both men were asked if they would give consent to search. Both men gave verbal consent to search the truck and their belonging, the arrest report states.
During the search deputies located approximately 7 pounds of marijuana, several small zip top baggies commonly used to package and sell drugs and a small zip top baggie containing a white powder substance suspected to be cocaine, the report states.
Both men were arrested. Bail: $20,000 each.

— A Carson City woman was arrested Monday for two misdemeanor bench warrants, one issued out of Carson City, and the other out of Reno. Bail: $5,000 cash only.
