NHP: Yerington man identified in fatal crash after failing to yield for law enforcement
A Yerington man has been identified in a fatal crash that happened Monday night on State Route 208 in Lyon County.
Patrick Fredrick Wood, 57, died of injuries at the scene of the single vehicle crash, which happened in the vicinity of mile marker 25 at approximately 11:45 p.m., according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.
Preliminary investigation shows that a 1999 white Ford F-350 pickup driven by Wood was traveling westbound on State Route 208. The driver of the Ford pickup failed to yield the right of way to a Yerington Police Department patrol car and subsequently two Lyon County Sheriff's Office patrol cars who were behind the F-350 with lights and siren activated, said NHP Trooper Michael McLaughlin.
The Ford pickup traveled to the right, striking the front of a guardrail. The pickup continued westbound and drove off the right side of the roadway, according to NHP.
The F-350 then struck several trees along the right side of the highway. The Ford pickup came to rest partially across the westbound travel lane and the shoulder of the highway, said McLaughlin.
