Carson City authorities look for origin of possible shots fired in neighborhood
Carson City authorities combed the areas of Fifth and Harbin Street early this morning after several calls came in reporting multiple gunshots fired.
At least six calls came into Carson City dispatch beginning at 1:38 a.m. from residents reporting several shots fired in their neighborhood. A search of the area began immediately and has, thus far, turned up nothing, reports Sgt. Brian Humphrey.
No shells or casings have been found and the possibility of fireworks hasn't been ruled out, Humphrey said. Of those who reported hearing shots fired, none of the reporting callers knew exactly where the shots came from nor did they believe they were being shot at, Humphrey said.
A number of people walking along Fifth Street were stopped and questioned, with a number of them having also heard the shots.
As of about 4 a.m. authorities continued to patrol nearby neighborhoods and alleys in and around around Second, Fifth and Harbin streets.
