Carson High student death addressed, counseling offered to CHS community
The Carson High School community is mourning the loss of a teenage male student who died Sunday. The following is a statement from Carson City School District Superintendent Andrew Feuling.
“The Carson school community was devastated to learn of the loss of one of our Carson High School students to suicide this weekend. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family during this difficult time."
"Carson High School has counselors and social workers available to support students that are struggling to deal with this tragedy.
"Appointments with CHS social workers can be scheduled by calling 775-283-1834. Community resources are also available.
"It has been widely reported that nationally, we are seeing more frequent and significant mental health concerns among youth in this country, and Carson City is no exception.
"Please take the time to speak with your student about the importance of mental health. If you feel your student needs help, please encourage them to reach out to their school counselor or a school social worker, or you can initiate the process for them by reaching out to any of the resources listed below.”

Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong said Monday there was a death, it is being investigated and the cause will be officially determined by the coroner.
