UPDATE: I-580 Northbound in Washoe Valley reopens following closure
6:18 p.m.: Northbound lanes have reopened.
5:56 p.m.: A rollover crash was reported on Eastlake and 395. Injuries are unknown. Westlake is currently cleared from the prior crash.
5:30 p.m.: Traffic cameras show that southbound I-580 is still open, but there is no traffic coming on the Northbound lanes. Dispatch indicates another crash on West Lake is causing traffic issues as well.
The National Weather Service has advised all drivers to stay off of the roads until after 5:45 p.m. due to a Snow Squall moving into the region which can cause zero visibility and hazardous driving conditions.
3:41 p.m.: Traffic is being stopped by law enforcement in North Carson City to prohibit drivers from entering I-580 in the valley at this time.
3:13 p.m.: An accident involving a group of motorcyclists riding in a snowstorm has stopped traffic in the northbound lanes of I-580 in southern Washoe Valley. Motorists are advised to find other routes. More information to follow.
White out conditions persist through the valley. Multiple cars are at a standstill after several crashes in the northbound lanes. First responders are on scene.
