Downed line, power outage reported in East Carson City
A downed power line reported around 10 a.m. Saturday morning in the area of U.S. Highway 50 East and Deer Run Road appears to be related to traffic back-up at the East College Parkway-Fairview Drive signal and a loss of electricity to more than 1,200 customers.
The Carson City Fire Department responded to the original report through emergency dispatch of a downed line at Deer Run and U.S. Highway 50 East. No fires or sparks were reported or identified in the area.
The downed line was not impeding traffic, however, it does appear to be related to a power outage affecting the intersection of U.S. Highway 50 East and College Pkwy/Fairview Drive.
The Carson City Sheriff's Office has responders on scene providing traffic control at that intersection.
NV Energy has been notified of the downed line. The NV Energy web site reports more than 1,250 customers in East Carson City are without power at this hour.
The power company estimates electricity should be restored by 2 p.m. Saturday afternoon.
