Carson Senators prepare for 2018 baseball season
The Senators will look to start their 2018 baseball season off on the right foot, as tryouts were held at Ron McNutt field Saturday in Carson City.
Along with up and coming juniors, a total of 9 seniors including hard-hitting third baseman Abel Carter and flame-throwing pitcher Jared Barnard returned to the diamond eager to start the year.
“I am looking forward to seeing the growth of this team,” said head coach Bryan Manoukian. “We will just need to take it one game at a time.”
The absence of 2017 graduating senior Jesse Lopez left a gaping hole in center field, which lead to Landon Truesdale moving from right field to fill the position.
“It's going to be an adjustment as the season goes along,” said Truesdale. “But I will do whatever it takes for the team to succeed.”
Along with coach Manoukian, Barnard also has high expectations for the season.
“I think we have a lot to prove this season,” he said. “And I'm excited to get back out there and win some games.”
Carson will face-off against Central Catholic in the Mike Bearman Tournament March 9.
