Carson City Spring 2024 'Dinks and Drinks' pickleball tournament registration opens
Capital City pickle ball tournament organizers have announced that registration is open for the Spring 2024 Dinks & Drinks Tournament, happening Friday through Sunday, April 19-21 at the Carson City MAC.
The tournament is round-robin — with bracket play when appropriate — with men's, women's, and mixed events in skill levels 2.5, 3.0, 3.5, 4.0, and 4.5+ open to ages 12 and up. When an event gathers more than 7 or 8 teams, we will split into pools, and/or create new events based on age to keep round robin matches to a reasonable number. Gold, Silver, and Bronze Medals will be awarded for each event.
While this is not a sanctioned tournament, we are going to try to provide line judges for as many of the medal matches as we can. We may also try to do that for the 2.5 skill level events, to help educate newer players to become more aware of kitchen faults, illegal serves, etc. All other play will be self-refereed, with good sportsmanship expected of all participants. Remember, this is intended to be a fun event, no one is getting paid here!
The Fall 2023 Dinks & Drinks Tournament was a fun event, and was very successful with 237 players registered (thank you very much). We would love to see 300 to 400 players in April, and may expand the tournament to 4 days if we get numbers like that.
As before, the Carson City Parks and Recreation Department is generously donating the use of the MAC, allowing the net proceeds from the tournament to go directly to the Mills Park Pickelball Court Project at the Foundation for Carson City Parks and Recreation (FCCPR), a 501(C)(3) non-profit organization. FCCPR does a great job supporting a number of worthwhile projects that improve the quality of life in Carson City. Please consider supporting FCCPR whenever possible. Carson City Parks & Rec and FCCPR are title sponsors for this event.
The MAC is at 1860 Russell Way, Carson City.
Co-tournament directors for this event are J.T. Ash, Alan Clark and Juana Beguelin. J.T. and Alan are helping me with registration and event structure, and Juana is organizing and coordinating volunteers. If for some reason you have an issue and can't reach me, please reach out to any of these people. If you are interested in volunteering, please use the volunteer button on the registration page and/or reach out to Juana.
Organizers are planning to have their regular snack table available to everyone each day of the tournament.
