Nevada State Police identifies Fallon man who died in fatal US-50 crash
Nevada State Police, Highway Patrol Division has identified a 26-year-old Fallon man who died in a fatal crash involving a semi that happened Wednesday, Feb. 8 on US-50 in Fallon.
Jacob Tyler Fischio, 26, died at the scene from injuries sustained in the crash where the Honda Civic he was driving struck a Peterbilt semi with three trailers.
At approximately 6:25 a.m., the Nevada State Police responded to the crash at the location of US-50 at Sheckler Road in Fallon. A preliminary investigation revealed that a black Honda Civic sedan was traveling eastbound on US-50 approaching the intersection with Sheckler Road, SR117.
The white Peterbilt semi, towing three trailers, was turning left from northbound Sheckler cut off to westbound US-50. The Honda Civic failed to yield to a red light and entered into the intersection, according to NHP.
The front of the Honda Civic struck the left side of the third trailer being towed by the Peterbilt in the intersection. The driver of the Peterbilt did not sustain injuries. The driver of the Honda Civic, Fischio, succumbed to injuries sustained in the crash and was pronounced deceased on scene, according to NHP.
This marks the Nevada State Police Highway Patrol, Northern Command’s fourth fatal crash and fourth fatality for 2023.
