Carson City Sheriff's arrest log: Woman bites ex-boyfriend, booked on second battery offense

A 24-year-old Carson City woman was arrested early Saturday morning for misdemeanor suspicion of domestic battery second offense, a Carson City Sheriff’s deputy said.

The woman was booked following an incident Friday night at 20 College Parkway in which she allegedly threw a mug at her ex-boyfriend during an argument, hitting him in the face and then biting him in the chest.

According to the arrest report, the victim and woman got into an argument after the victim said the woman came home high from smoking marijuana and was unable to help take care of the children.

On Saturday morning, deputies were called to Carson Tahoe Hospital in reference to a domestic battery and made contact with the suspect from the battery earlier Friday night.

The woman claimed she was battered by her boyfriend and said he “whipped her with multiple cords.”

The deputy asked the woman if she had any injuries. The woman showed an injury on her upper left leg that was consistent with an old bruise. The officer did not observe any fresh injuries consistent with being whipped, the arrest report states.

The deputy advised the woman was being arrested for suspicion of domestic battery and she was taken into custody.

The deputy ran the woman’s criminal history and learned she had a prior conviction for domestic battery on Feb. 17, 2017. Bail: $5,137.

In other arrests:

— A 50-year-old man was arrested early Saturday morning at 1:17 a.m. in the area of I-580 and the Koontz overpass for misdemeanor suspicion of DUI.

According to the arrest report, a Carson City Sheriff’s deputy observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed, pacing it going 85 mph in a 65 mph zone. The vehicle was in the number two lane and crossed the right white lane line several times, according to the arrest report, and accelerated again passing 90 mph. The deputy activated his red and blue overhead lights.

The deputy made contact with the sole occupant, who had red watery eyes and smelled of an alcoholic beverage. The man told the deputy he had three drinks and would perform field sobriety tests. He showed signs of impairment and provided a preliminary breath test with a result of .200. He was arrested for suspicion of DUI and agreed to a blood draw at jail. Bail: $1,137.

— A 20-year-old Gardnerville man, Andrey Grigoryev Griffiths, was arrested Friday morning at 10:34 a.m. in the 5400 block of South Carson Street for a felony warrant out of East Fork Justice Township, a misdemeanor warrant, also out of East Fork and misdemeanor suspicion of obstructing an officer.

According to the arrest report, deputies were called to the location to check on the welfare of a person.

Deputies arrived on scene and met with the man who had been living at the address. He was asked for his identification. He provided the deputy with a photo copy of a California ID.

The deputy ran the identification through dispatch and learned of the felony and misdemeanor warrants. The man then attempted to run from the officer, but the officer was able to hold on to him to prevent him from escaping, according to the arrest report. He was handcuffed and taken to jail. Bail: $11,412.

— A 24-year-old Dayton man was arrested Friday, 2:45 p.m. in the area of College Parkway and Retail Drive for misdemeanor warrants from the Nevada Highway Patrol and Dayton Township in Lyon County. Bail: $2,355.

— A 39-year-old Incline Village man was booked into jail Friday, 1:20 p.m. for a misdemeanor contempt of court warrant issued Jan. 26, 2017 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $1,000.
