Carson City deputies make DUI, battery on medical staff and larceny arrests

A 37-year-old Gardnerville man was arrested early Friday morning for misdemeanor suspicion of DUI, driving without a valid license, no vehicle insurance, no registration certificate and open container in vehicle, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

According to the arrest report, a deputy made a traffic stop at Lone Mountain and Sage Street at 4:38 a.m. after hearing a vehicle’s engine revving at high RPMs and observing the vehicle turn southbound on Roop from the area of the Walmart parking lot on Market Street.

The deputy followed the vehicle and observed it swerving within its lanes and then driving on top of the solid yellow line for approximately 100 to 150 feet. The vehicle turned northbound in the area of Lone Mountain and Sage when the officer made contact with the driver.

He could smell an odor of alcohol coming from inside the vehicle and the man’s speech was slurred. The officer asked the man if had consumed any alcoholic beverages. The man stated he had one beer earlier that night, the arrest report states.

Located on the center console was an open and cold Budweiser. The man stated he did not have a driver’s license and provided the officer with a California ID card. The man agreed to field sobriety test and showed signs of impairment. He provided a preliminary breath test of .208 and was arrested. Bail: $2,330.

In other bookings:
— A 27-year-old woman was arrested Thursday for gross misdemeanor suspicion of battery of medical staff, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said. According to the arrest report the woman allegedly assaulted a nurse at a facility in the 1000 block of North Minnesota Street.

According to the arrest report, the woman admitted she punched a nurse and said she thought she was pregnant and when she found out she got upset, the arrest report states. Bail: $11,137.

— A 24-year-old Reno man was booked into jail Thursday, 12:35 p.m. for a misdemeanor warrant, violation of conditions, issued Jan. 18, 2018. Bail: $3,000 cash only.

— A 44-year-old Stagecoach woman was arrested Thursday, 10:07 a.m. in the area of Roop and Caroline streets for misdemeanor suspicion of DUI drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia and being an ex-felon failing to register.

According to the arrest report, deputies responded to a traffic stop in which the driver of a vehicle cut off a deputy and another vehicle. The woman had red, watery eyes, a noticeable sway and appeared amped up, the arrest report states. She denied using any controlled substances and advised she would submit to standardized field sobriety tests in which she showed signs of impairment.

The woman was arrested for suspicion of DUI. During a search of the woman’s vehicle a pipe with a burnt crystalline substance was located as well as two digital scales. Bail: $2,516.

— Two South Lake Tahoe women were arrested Thursday, 3:23 p.m. in the area of I-580 and South Carson Street for misdemeanor suspicion of petit larceny, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

According to the arrest report, the sheriff’s office was alerted to a larceny at Walmart and the suspects were seen leaving the area in a black Nisan truck. Dispatch advised two females were seen getting into the vehicle.

A deputy located the vehicle driving southbound on I-580 and conducted a traffic stop. Loss prevention said they observed the women stealing approximately $370 in merchandise. One of the two women, age 37, also had a failure to appear warrant for her arrest issued Nov. 16, 2017 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail for the $1,167. Bail for the woman arrested for the single petit larceny charge: $352.
