Carson City Vagina Monologues this Friday through Sunday at Brewery Arts Center
This year, I am pleased to once again perform in and serve as hostess of the Carson City Vagina Monologues. This important monologue play, written by Eve Ensler to empower women, benefits Advocates to End Domestic Violence.
One hundred percent of the proceeds of the show will go to help women in need. It opens Friday, Feb. 16 at 7 p.m. with two additional shows Saturday, Feb. 17, 7 p.m. and Sunday, Feb. 18 at 2 p.m. A silent auction will be held to raise additional funds for the charity.
The cast of this year’s Carson City Vagina Monologues includes show veterans and new faces alike. The pieces vary from poignant to sad, gut-splittingly funny to rage-inducing, and everywhere in between.
Shauna Johnson - The Lists, They Beat the Girl Out of the Boy, Angry Vagina

Discretion is advised when bringing teenagers. However, the message is one I believe every girl should hear. You are a beautiful creature worthy of respect of the highest form. Rape is not OK. Your voice is meaningful.
I get asked often, “if I bring my husband, will he be the only man there?” Possibly. But I haven’t seen that happen yet. Men support us, love us, father us, befriend us, and attend our show. They attend with their girlfriends, wives, and sometimes even alone, as men who support women and a worthy cause. So come on out, guys.
My column, which appears weekly here on CarsonNow is about claiming your own power. Come out this weekend and help women, faces in need you may never see or suspect are being abused, find better lives from themselves and their children.
