Carson City firefighters save dog in second floor fire at St. Charles
UPDATE 4:50PM: Jim Phalan, owner of The Fox Brewpub, said they are now back open for business. He said the sprinklers from the second story flooded the brewery and parts of the walk-in refrigeration, and they had to throw away a lot of food. They also lost most of their lunch business for the day.
"I am sure there is ceiling damages, I just do not know how much at this point," Phalan said. "But we didn't lose any beer."
He also thanked the first responders for saving the dog and the hotel. "Who knows how much worse it could have been," he said.

On Tuesday afternoon at 12:16 p.m., Carson City Fire units were dispatched to a structure fire at 310 S. Carson Street, the St. Charles Residential Hotel.
The first arriving firefighters observed smoke from the second floor of the hotel. Crews quickly made entry into the smoke filled apartment and located an unconscious small dog.
Firefighters also confirmed the fire had been extinguished by a working fire sprinkler. Had the building not had fire sprinklers the fire would have been much more serious, said Carson City Fire Chief Sean Slamon.
The dog was resuscitated and taken to a local veterinary hospital by firefighters.
"The dog is doing much better," said Carson City Fire Department Battalion Chief Scott Baker.
The damage to the hotel is estimated to be $10,000, said Slamon.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation. A total of 17 firefighters responded to the incident.
