— A Carson City man faces who had been arguing with his mother faces a gross misdemeanor drug charge of having methamphetamine and several misdemeanor paraphernalia possession charges.
The 39 year-old man was arrested Thursday at 11:18 p.m. after officers were called to the 2100 block of Bordeaux Street in response to a domestic dispute between the man and his mother. The mother called authorities complaining that her son was harassing and disrespecting her and for keeping himself and his room unkept, according to the arrest report.
The mother led an officer into the man's room which was reportedly messy, disorganized and which drug paraphernalia — a metal marijuana smoking pipe — was in plain view. The mother told officers she suspect her son was using drugs since he had been in and out of the residence at all hours of the night, the arrest report stated.
Officers asked the man if he had illegal drugs in his room. The man said he did not. Officers then asked if they could search his room with a police K9, who is trained to detect controlled substances. The man agreed. The dog sniffed out three glass pipes commonly used for smoking methamphetamine, a green plastic straw with white residue with methamphetamine and a syringe in a pouch. One of the pipes found contained a large amount of methamphetamine that had been burned and smoked, according to the arrest report.
The man was arrested and faces charges of possession of a controlled substance (meth); four misdemeanor counts of possession of drug paraphernalia, and a misdemeanor charge of possessing a hypodermic needle. He is being held on $9,160 bail.
