Carson City Sheriff's Office arrests: Man jailed for felony kidnapping, domestic battery

A 32-year-old Carson City man was arrested early Saturday morning for suspicion of felony domestic battery with strangulation as well as felony second-degree kidnapping, a Carson City sheriff's deputy said.

Timothy David Priess was taken into custody and booked at the Carson City Jail following an initial report of domestic battery. He was arrested at 2:55 a.m. in the 1500 block of La Mirada. Law enforcement officers met with the victim at the hospital.

The deputy noted heavy bruising, swelling and dried blood on the victim's lips, as well as a swollen left cheek and a 1.5-inch laceration on her left rear scalp. Skin around the victim's neck was also red with abrasions.

Per the victim's report, the suspect was her ex-husband who had offered to give her a ride home from a downtown Carson City establishment. However, instead of taking her home, Priess held her in his truck against her will, the victim stated.

Priess then proceeded to beat her as he drove, the victim said, while also strangling her and grabbing her neck.

According to the victim, Priess also threatened to kill her. Eventually he stopped beating her, and drove the victim to the hospital where he left her.

After interviewing the victim, Carson City Sheriff's deputies arrived at the suspect's residence and arrested him without incident. Priess had an outstanding misdemeanor warrant out from the Carson City Justice Court that he was also arrested for Saturday.

Priess waived his Miranda rights upon arrest and confessed to beating the victim, threatening to kill her (out of anger) and wrapping his right arm around her neck to prevent her from jumping out of a moving vehicle, the arrest report said. Bail: $40,000.
