Did you feel it? Earthquake between 3.64 and 3.5 magnitude near Markleeville
An earthquake with a magnitude of between 3.64 to 3.5 shook south of Markleeville at 5:41 p.m. Tuesday, according to the Nevada Seismological Laboratory and USGS.
According to USGS, the quake was centered around 2.5 miles south, southeast of Markleeville. USGS initially measured the quake's magnitude of 3.82 then later reduced it to 3.5. The Nevada Seismological Laboratory noted the earthquake was centered 12.5 miles west of Topaz Lake in Alpine County and measured a magnitude 3.54 and then upgraded it to a 3.64 near Double Springs Flat.
Several people in South Lake Tahoe reported feeling it, according to SouthTahoeNow.com.
Nevada Seismological Laboratory notes three smaller earthquakes were recorded, a 1.3 magnitude at 5:53 p.m., a 1.4 magnitude at 5:51 p.m., and a 1.52 magnitude at 6:07 p.m.
