Carson tames Mustangs on the road, 59-43
The Carson High Senators won their second game against Damonte Ranch Friday night, 59-43, this time on the road in Reno.
The win keeps Carson undefeated and alone in first place atop the Sierra League boys basketball standings at 12-0. It is 10-5 overall this season.
The Senators had another slow start in the opening period, trailing Damonte Ranch 14-8 at the end of the first quarter. CHS, in fact, went into the locker room at the half behind by two points, 23-21.
But the third quarter saw Carson outscore the Mustangs 17-8 in the third quarter to take a seven-point lead going into the final period.
The Senators then busted out on a 21-point run in the game’s last frame, outscoring Damonte Ranch by nine points to pull away for the victory.
Fellow Senators Asa Carter and Jayden DeJoseph registered most of their team’s buckets, notching a combined 49 points. Carter scored a team-high 25 points while DeJoseph followed close behind with 24 points for the Senators.
The CHS boys have four more contests left on their regular season schedule, including three home games. Friday’s win sets the Senators up for a home stand against the Wooster Colts Tuesday night at 7 p.m.
