Carson City woman faces multiple charges after vehicle fire in Kings Canyon

A 51-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Saturday afternoon in Kings Canyon on a U.S. Forest Service road for misdemeanor reckless driving, driving with a suspended and revoked license for DUI, alcohol consumption in public and littering, a sheriff's deputy said.

A Carson City Sheriff’s Office deputy was dispatched to the King’s Canyon unpaved road about 1/4 mile up from the parking area to assist the Carson City Fire Department with a vehicle fire, the arrest report states.

The suspect stated that she was driving up the path to take the most scenic route of a hike. She stated that she was going to park somewhere and hike from her car to clear her head.

According to the arrest report and the statement from the suspect, she said that she attempted to get up the path multiple times and on the third attempt she felt the undercarriage of her vehicle hit a rock. The rear of her vehicle swung around and she slid down the hill to a resting point off the side of the main path. She tried to put her car in reverse but the car was stuck.

After attempting several times to move forward and backward to free the car she began to see smoke coming from the front of the vehicle. She then tried placing sagebrush under the wheels to gain traction, but after getting back in to try to free it again the smoke got so bad that she could not see, the arrest report states.

The suspect told the CCSO deputy that the car began to catch fire so she stood in front of the car and drank a mini bottle of tequila and threw it on the ground. She then walked up the hill from the burning vehicle and called 911 to report the fire.

Upon making contact with the suspect, a Carson City Sheriff’s Office deputy noticed the suspect's eyes were red and watery. The deputy said that she could smell alcohol coming from the suspect’s person through the smell of the burning vehicle that was smoking as the fire department was extinguishing the fire, the report states.

The suspect originally claimed to have had one beer that morning, and handed the deputy a mini unopened bottle of tequila while stating that she was going to drink it, but didn’t get the chance. The suspect then admitted to drinking one of the mini bottles of tequila that was found near the vehicle. A preliminary breath test was administered and provided a complete sample of 0.256 percent BAC. She was arrested on the misdemeanor charges at 12:28 p.m. Total bail: $2,618.

Fidel Louis Fuentes was the passenger and the officer indicates in the report that he was talking to the driver from the passenger side and Fuentes was trying to speak over him. The deputy asked for Fuentes identification and a records check returned with a parole and probation warrant and a Dangerous Offender Notification System (D.O.N.S.) warrant, the report states.

During an inventory of the vehicle a glass pipe and Q-tips were tucked down on the left side of the passenger’s seat. In the bowl of the pipe was a white crystal substance that later tested with a presumptive positive alert for methamphetamine, according to the arrest report. Total bail: $3,637.

Cornelius Young Farrell was found to be making phone contact while in custody to the victim of his domestic battery arrest on Jan. 25. Farrell had an active court ordered "no contact" condition from the victim at the time he made contact, according to the arrest report.

Farrell has made four phone calls to the victim and made contact twice since he has been in custody, a Carson City Sheriff’s Office deputy said. Deputies used archived audio recordings and video surveillance showing Farrell using the inmate phone. Farrell is heard acknowledging the "no contact" order from the court while speaking with the victim in the recording of his fourth call, and is also heard actively attempting to prevent or dissuade the victim from commencing prosecution, a CCSO deputy said. Total bail: $6,000 bond.

Frey said that he moved on Jan. 18 and had not registered because he was working and didn’t have time, the arrest report states. The CCSO deputy informed him that he had 48-hours to register in Nevada and it was a felony to fail to do so. Total bail: $5,000.

— A 40-year-old Carson City man was arrested Sunday, 3:08 p.m., in the 2700 block of Concord Drive for misdemeanor domestic battery and violation of suspended sentence.

A Carson City Sheriff’s Office deputy was dispatched to a residence where the suspect had become physical with his mother and nephew. Upon arrival, the suspect kept raising his voice and said, “I did it, you can take me,” a CCSO deputy states in the report.

The suspect's mother stated that the man was on the porch yelling and calling his girlfriend bad names. He then began to curse at his mother. According to the arrest report, his nephew then came out when the suspect pushed his mother.

The nephew stepped in when the suspect attempted to push his mother a second time and told his uncle to, “Chill out,” according to the report. At that time the suspect attacked his nephew and then went to the ground. The fight was broken up by the suspect's girlfriend and he calmed down just as deputies arrived.

According to the arrest report, The deputy tried to talk to the suspect, who was extremely intoxicated. The deputy states that all he would tell her was, “I got my ass kicked,” or referring to his nephew, “he kicked my ass,” according to the report.

The suspect was placed under arrest and provided a preliminary breath test of 0.259 percent BAC. Total bail: $4,132.

— A 51-year-old transient woman was arrested Sunday, 4 p.m., in the 1800 block of N. Carson Street for gross misdemeanor battery on a protected person, misdemeanor battery, resisting a public officer and trespassing.

Carson City Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched for a report of an unwanted subject. Upon arrival deputies spoke with the subject renting a room at an inn where he advised that a woman would not leave as he requested. He said that she was not on the rental agreement and had been in the room less than two days, according to the arrest report.

The suspect stated to deputies that the room was hers and that deputies had no business talking to her. She refused to identify herself and was cursing and yelling at such a volume that several bystanders began to gather to find out what the matter was, a CCSO deputy stated in the report.

The suspect was handcuffed and advised she was under arrest for trespassing. A CCSO deputy said the suspect actively resisted as they attempted to walk her down the stairs to a patrol car. He said that once on the ground floor she kicked a motel room door just as the guest was walking out of the room. The force of the door hit the guest in the head and caused a deep laceration. The victim was treated by Carson City paramedics.

According to the arrest report, the suspect would not be seated in the patrol car and began to fight once again. A deputy was kicked at least three times in the mid torso as they were trying to get her into the patrol car, a CCSO deputy said.

Once detained she began forcing her head into the glass, bars, and plexiglass of the back of the patrol car. She spat and flung her head in such a fashion as to cause mucous from her nose to be strewn about the back of the patrol car, a CCSO deputy said. Total bail: $4,291.
