Crime Log: Two Carson City men arrested in connection to dry ice bomb explosions

Deven Jerome King, 20, and Michael Christopher Giorgi, 20, both from Carson City, were arrested Thursday for felony possession of an explosive device after they admitted to making dry ice bombs out of plastic soda bottles and throwing them into the front yard of a former roommate.

On Wednesday evening, two residents of a house in the 2300 block of Merrit Drive reported hearing an explosion and something hitting the house. When they look out, they saw five plastic bottles in the front yard, and watched as two more of them exploded. The residents believed that the bombs were the work of two ex-roommates. One of the residents saw a black car leaving the area at the time the bombs went off, and went to where one of the ex-roommates lived in the 3900 block of Pheasant Drive where she saw a similar vehicle.

The Douglas County Bomb Squad was called in and disabled the unexploded bombs.

A cashier at a grocery store identified Giorgi from a photograph as one of the subjects who purchased dry ice earlier that evening.

On Thursday, Giorgi and King sat down for an interview with Carson City Sheriff's deputies and said they were with two other people when the dry ice was purchased, and that they assembled the bombs in the back of a car and each threw at least one of the bombs into the victims' yard.

Giorgi and King were each arrested for felony possession of an explosive device. Bail for each was set at $7,500.
