What Works: The only thing that is certain is change
TimeHop is a great little app I use when I need a little reminder about how far I have come. This app takes you back as many as five years in your social media posts. For me, it illustrates one simple point of life. The only thing that is certain is change.
Everything changes, business, results, relationships, weight, jobs, friendships, mindsets — absolutely everything. It’s how you move, shift, and transform with that change that makes all the difference. Change can be exciting or it can spark fear. How do you choose to handle it?
Change requires:
Courage to accept the unknown.
Heart to embrace what people, places, things, or events are to come.
Agility to jump the hurdles and roll with the punches of life.
Great mindset, to envision the best possible outcome and move toward it.
Eagerness to move forward, not look backward, and if necessary “embrace the suck” to get to the good.
That’s right. I said “embrace the suck.” Sometimes, things are going to suck. Being laid up on the couch for three days with my foot swollen was not a walk in the park, or a limp for that matter. But I embraced it. I did a video, without makeup even, and put it on my Facebook page, www.facebook.com/whatworkscoaching. I read a lot of articles. I finished some projects on my lap top. I did a lot of thinking. All of this helped me catapult into the New Year despite the condition of my lower extremity.
This week, I will be at Comma Coffee at World Dance Open Floor in my belly dance costume and my walking boot with the Zephyr Spirit Tribe. No, I won’t be dancing. But I’ll be finding the happiness I can by dressing up, cheering on my belly dance sisters, and having a good time. Why not come out and take a picture with me to inspire you to work with the crazy stuff life throws at you?
What changes have you gone through? What has gotten you through them? Have any insights to share with the rest of the CarsonNow community? The floor is yours, Carson City.
