Carson City woman jailed for allegedly striking victim with tire iron
A 54-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Friday for suspicion of felony battery with a deadly weapon and other offenses after allegedly hitting a person with a tire iron, a sheriff's office booking report states.
Angela Michelle Stiles was taken into custody at 12:16 p.m. at 20 College Parkway. She was also booked for misdemeanor suspicion of possession of drug paraphernalia and a citizen's arrest for misdemeanor suspicion of battery.
According to the arrest report, Carson City Sheriff's Office deputies responded for a report regarding a victim who was assaulted with a tire iron and that citizens had the woman detained.
Deputies arrived and located the woman, who was detained by another person who had her pinned to the ground. The person identified Stiles as the one with the tire iron.
Officer detained the suspect, who officers observed having a glass pipe with residue hanging from her left pocket. An officer removed the pipe. Officers also observed a silver 4-sided tire iron on the ground 15 feet from where the suspect was.
The suspect was read her Miranda rights, which she agreed to speak. She said she was invited over by the victim because she had flat tires on her car and needed help changing them. The officer did not observed any flat tires on the vehicle in question, the report states.
The suspect said she never hit anyone with a tire iron and that she was assaulted by the victim, the report states. The victim told officers she was confronted by the suspect, who had threatened to mess with her car and that the suspect then swung the tire iron multiple times, hitting her in the elbow. The arresting officer observed bruising and blood on the victim's elbow and she appeared to be in pain.
A witness on scene stated he helped to restrain the suspect after she hit the victim with the tire iron. Another witness who attempted to restrain the suspect said the woman hit, kicked and pulled her hair. She wished to press charges for battery.
Stiles was booked for suspicion of battery with a deadly weapon, battery, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Bail: $32,000.
In other arrests:
— A 63-year-old man, Mark Haole Delacruz, was arrested Jan. 9 for suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, a sheriff's booking report states.
According to the arrest report, deputies were dispatch to the area regarding a roommate who threatened another roommate with a machete. Deputies arrived and met with the parties involved. According to the victim, the suspect accused him of going into his room and threatened him with a machete.
The victim stated the suspect was standing in the hallway and had a machete in his hands and said he would take his "head off" if he went into the room. The victim said he was adamant that that he did not go into Delacruz's room, that they've lived in the house for a year and half and have exchanged only six words.
A witness in the house also said he heard the incident and saw the suspect wield a machete while standing in the threshold of his door and the hallway.
Officers interviewed the suspect who said he heard a his door open, saw his roommate in the hallway, and so he grabbed his machete and stepped out of his room. He stated he yelled for the man to get out of the room. According to the arrest report, the suspect's account of the incident changed several times throughout the interview, and at one point in the interview admitted he was guilty.
The machete was located between his mini refrigerator and a nightstand. He was booked for suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon. Bail: $20,000.
— A jail inmate at the Carson City Detention Facility, Guy Rogers, 22, listed as a transient, was served a warrant Jan. 9 alleging trafficking a controlled substance. Bail: $250,000.
— Two were arrested by the Carson City Sheriff's Office Special Enforcement Team on Saturday for suspicion of drug possession and other offenses.
Nicholas Whitton, 25, listed as a transient and Katrina Renee Bostic, 30, were arrested in the 3900 block of Highway 50 East. According to the arrest report, A CCSO deputy made a traffic stop on a vehicle that was speeding.
The officer saw the passenger was Whitton, who, it was known to the officer, had warrants for his arrest. The male suspect got out of the vehicle, looked at the officer and stated "can I ask you and question?" and then took off running away from the traffic stop, the report states.
The officer chased the fleeing suspect, who fell into some mud at an intersection and took off again. The suspect was advised that he was going to be tasered if he didn't stop. The suspect stopped and was taken into custody, the arrest report states.
During a search, officers located narcotics and drug paraphernalia in the man's pant pockets, and several used and unused hypodermic devices in both jean pockets. Officers also found a small plastic baggie with suspect heroin in a pocket, and a spoon with suspected heroin residue and red and white tube devices commonly used for smoking narcotics, the report states.
The female suspect, who was the driver, also had a confirmed misdemeanor warrant for her arrest and was taken into custody. At the detention center during a search, officers located two folded up tin foil wrappers with suspected heroin, as well as paraphernalia associated with using narcotics.
Whitton was booked for the four felony warrants, suspicion of drug possession, paraphernalia and obstructing. He was being held without bail for the warrants. Bostic was arrested for suspicion of possession of a controlled substance, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia and the misdemeanor warrant. Bail" $3,637.
— A 26-year-old woman, Katie Sardella, was arrested Jan. 9 for misdemeanor suspicion of possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) and misdemeanor possession fo drug paraphernalia. Bail: $3,637.
