Carson City MAC open, city league athletes all smiles
The Carson City Parks and Recreation Department began hosting its first sports programs in the city's Multi-purpose Athletic Center. The 33,400-square-foot $8.3 million facility opened the doors last month, but Saturday was the first day city leagues took to the courts and enjoyed the new facility.
Scott Chapman, Sport Program Supervisor for the Carson City Multi-purpose Athletic Center, said the facility will have programs running 7 days a week beginning on Monday.
Two full size basketball courts, 4 mini-courts, soccer goals, and a 2nd deck walking track are all there for your use. Hours are currently Monday to Friday 6:30-9 a.m., 11:00 a.m. to -2 p.m., and 2:30 to 8:00 p.m., Saturdays 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sundays 10:30 a.m. to 3:30pm. Ages 4-17 and seniors (55+) are $3, and adults cost $4. Disabled veterans are free*, and punch cards and monthly passes are also available.
