Carson City sheriff's arrest log: Woman booked for drug DUI and possession
A 45 year-old transient woman was arrested Friday night at 8:47 p.m. in the area of N. Carson and E. Adams streets for suspicion of drug possession and first-offense driving under the influence, a Carson City sheriff's deputy reported.
Heather Nadine Broadway was taken into custody following a traffic stop on blue Chevrolet sedan she was driving without a rear license plate.
A sheriff's deputy made contact with Broadway, who did not have an active driver's license. Two other passengers were also in the vehicle.
When asked if she had any recent drug use, Broadway replied that she had used methamphetamine about a week ago, the arrest report said.
The sedan belonged to one of the passengers, who consented to a vehicle search when asked.
A K-9 unit was called in to perform an exterior sniff, which resulted in a positive alert, and a more extensive vehicle search ensued.
Recovered during the search was a prescription pill bottle featuring an unreadable label with no name, as well as a black bag containing a tobacco tin with traces of a fine, white crystalline powder residue inside of it. The residue tested presumptive positive for meth, the report said.
Broadway admitted the bag belonged to her. She also stated the prescription bottle was hers and that the prescription was from "a long time ago," the report said.
Inside the bottle were 13 Buspirone Hydrochloride pills and five Quetiapine Fumarate pills, both of which required valid prescriptions to possess.
Broadway had no documentation to show the prescription bottle or the pills inside were prescribed to her, the report said.
She was handcuffed and escorted to a patrol vehicle, along the way to which the arresting deputy observed her to be under the influence.
Broadway did consent to standard field sobriety tests (SFSTs), which showed signs of impairment.
Broadway was then placed in the patrol car and transported to the Carson City Jail, where she was booked on misdemeanor first-offense DUI drugs, felony possession of meth, and gross misdemeanor dangerous drug possession without a prescription. Bail: $7,274.
