Carson City arrest log: Woman jailed for fraud, admits to stealing physician prescription slip
A 25-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Tuesday on felony fraud and drug charges after allegedly attempting to obtain narcotic medication with a forged prescription, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.
Sarabeth Elaine Nelson was arrested at 2:15 p.m. after being flagged at a pharmacy in the 1800 block of North Carson Street. According to the arrest report, the sheriff's office was contacted by a pharmacy employee who stated they received a prescription from the suspect and noticed her profile had been “hotlined” from an incident in 2012.
The employee stated she advised the pharmacy tech to contact the doctor to validate the prescription. Upon contacting the doctor, he stated he did not write the prescription and to contact authorities, according to the arrest report.
A sheriff's deputy made contact with the suspect outside the pharmacy and read her the Miranda warning. She stated she understood and wished to speak with the officer. She was asked how she obtained the prescription. The suspect stated while at her doctor’s office she saw the opportunity to grab a prescription pad and did so. She stated she only took one prescription slip and said she filled it out and entered the pharmacy with the intent to obtain “narcos,” the arrest report states.
At jail, deputies located three pills in her coat pocket, identified as Carisoprodol, a schedule 4 controlled substance. She was arrested on felony suspicion of fraud in violation of the Controlled Substance Act, uttering a forged instrument and possession of dangerous drugs without a prescription. Bail: $17,500.
