Carson City weather: Rain and snow systems line up for the coming week
Temperatures around Carson City will remain cold through the weekend, with many locations across the Sierra and Western Nevada experiencing single digits and teens early Saturday morning.
A series of fast moving but generally weak weather systems will move into the region next week. While none of these systems look to be overly strong, they are likely to produce travel impacts at times through the week, according to the weather service.
Temperatures will be near to slightly below normal for the period, with all snow expected in mountains and a mix of rain and snow in western Nevada valleys for each of the systems.
Monday’s weather system is likely to be the weakest, with only light snow possible for the Sierra and northeast California. For Tuesday, conditions appear more favorable for a moderate snow event near the Sierra, with periods of light snow and rain possible for western Nevada.
Another round of light to moderate snow is possible late next week. There is a large degree of uncertainty with storm tracks as each weather system moves inland, so forecast snowfall amounts, locations and timing will likely vary.
While temperatures will not be as cold compared to this weekend, significant warming is unlikely. Therefore, the potential for snow or a snow/rain mix will continue down to most lower elevations, with all snow expected near the Sierra including the Lake Tahoe basin.
